Silencio is a 7-year-old PRE gelding who was aptly named, as his name means \u201csilence\u201d or \u201cquiet.\u201d As a foal, he was very calm and kept to himself, and one might almost think that the breeder had forgotten about him. In fact, he was not broken in until the late age of 5, which is highly unusual in Spain.<\/p>\n
Of course, it wasn’t because this gelding was too inconspicuous. No, he is a beautiful horse with a very typical appearance. But he was definitely a late developer and, at 3 and 4 years old, simply not ready to be put to work. So he was castrated and allowed to run with the weanlings and young stallions until he was 5 years old.<\/p>\n
Silenzio’s bloodlines are influenced by Cartujano on his father’s side, and he is a grandson of Judio VII, sire of over 379 offspring and still holding the highest coefficient of 1.77 for \u201cbreed type.\u201d The dam line goes through Educado X, a top sire in PRE breeding, awarded as an elite stallion, about whom not much needs to be said.<\/p>\n
Silencio is therefore a very successful example of \u201cold\u201d Carthusian bloodlines paired with modern influence via the mare. A gelding who was raised in a very species-appropriate manner, had time to grow and develop, was broken in late, and has X-rays with no findings. Silencio impresses with his friendly nature, his uncomplicated manner, and his appearance, and is an ideal horse for someone who wants to continue growing with him, as he is currently 7 years old and has been ridden in the basic gaits.<\/p>\n
