Application for an Apprenticeship as a Riding Horse Specialist
Dear Future Trainer,
Dear Future Instructors,
I am writing to apply for an apprenticeship as a riding horse specialist leading to a long-term, permanent position.
My name is PECAS HML, and I’d like to tell you a little more about myself and my qualifications: I am a PRE mare, born in May 2023, currently standing about 1.57 m tall, and I’m a black-and-white roan. That said, I’ve already been told that my current coat color probably won’t last.
I successfully completed my “elementary school” years with my breeder. I’ve already mastered the basics of horse life: people are generally nice, halters aren’t a reason to panic, you can lift your feet off the ground one at a time, and I know how to conduct myself in everyday horse life.
I’ve also gained some initial professional experience in the areas of business travel and workplace mobility: I’m familiar with both horse trailers and transporters—so I’ve already discovered that you can get in, get out somewhere else, and, surprisingly, the world looks completely different there.
Now I believe it’s time for the next chapter in my life.
I’d like to start an apprenticeship as a riding instructor! 🎓🐴
In my opinion, I have the ideal qualifications for this job: I’m an exceptionally sweet, friendly young lady—curious, eager to learn, and ready to significantly expand my currently rather limited expertise.
My future schedule would happily include subjects such as:
– Lunge work for beginners
– Saddle and bridle basics
– “What does that person up there actually want from me?”
– Walk, trot, and eventually canter with a rider
– Riding in a straight line for advanced riders
– First excursions into the big, wide world
– And, of course, breaks and treats—an area where I already have some prior experience.
Naturally, I don’t have any professional experience yet. But I come straight from the breeder, am full of energy, and bring my own little head full of good ideas.
My social skills and ability to work in a team have also been thoroughly tested. I grew up in a herd, know the rules of equine social behavior, and understand when to intervene—and when it’s better to pretend I didn’t see a thing.
I also have some initial experience in childcare: I’ve occasionally been allowed to supervise the foals of the broodmares. In addition to my ability to work in a team, I bring a sense of responsibility and a basic understanding of nurturing young talent. Whether my supervision always met the mothers’ expectations, however, is not part of this job reference.
Therefore, what’s being sought isn’t a ready-made job, but someone who enjoys training a young PRE mare herself and working with her to figure out where her professional journey will take her.
My long-term career goal?
A well-behaved riding horse, a best friend, and perhaps someday an indispensable “Employee of the Month.”
I would be delighted to receive an invitation to meet in person.
With a friendly neigh,
Your future trainee
